Frozen photostroll
It’s -20C (or -4F in accordance to the converter) outside. Instead of sitting at home on a comfortable coach, drinking hot tea and watching a romantic movie we took a photostroll. Konstantin was making photos. He’s hands are not totally frozen now
Some of the photos (majority of them actualy) was taken by our film camera, and it’s not developed nor scanned yet. So I will share them later.
But still on my opinion we took some interesting photos of some buildings and something else. And it’s worth to see since Konstantin’s hands and my cheeks were almost frostbitten.
Here is a tenement building. It’s in awful condition. Unfortunately history buildings are like an eyesore for our capitalists. History buildings are situated in the downtown mostly where land is expensive and profits could be skyrocketing if use this land “properly”. So people, corporations which can afford it but the land where history buildings are located. But in accordance to the state law buildings that are historically or architecturally valuable are not allowed to be demolished. So some building were set to fire, some are waiting to be broken because of age, some of them are completely hidden with advertisement linens. It makes me sad.
Love this part of the building.
But as you’ll see below some buildings have more pleasant destiny. It’s called reconstruction.
This building is to former tenement house. But look how nice it looks!
Sculpture of another formed tenement house.
It was really cold so we went to the shopping center to have a warm. Great, wonderful department of theatrical equipment were waiting for us there. There are so many interesting things! I would spend hours browsing masks, wigs, dolls, different props that only could be imagined. I’ve never been in such place so it was all new to me. We were so excited that took photos only of few statues.
It would be very useful for thematic restaurants or night clubs.
It’s just awesomeness to me!

It sounds like a lovely day! I love going on photo-strolls! You have some beautiful buildings in your city.
P.S. Thanks for coming over to my blog!
Thank you for your nice reply
Love the buildings and the history they represent. I know it is hard to refurbish and get them up to code. It is a shame it wasn’t done all along. If they have to tear them down they should use the old stone and sculptures in the new buildings…keep the history going.
The American Indian is cool, but Freddy Kruger is not a good representation of the US!
Glad you got out and had a beautiful cold day!
“If they have to tear them down they should use the old stone and sculptures in the new buildings…keep the history going.” – nice idea! I have to pass it to our city planners
To say the truth these three pictures represents taste of my Konstantin as he shot them. There were much more sculptures (or dolls).
Never thought about Freddy Krueger as US representative
Thank you for your nice comment!

Thank you for your comment! When the weather is like this I want to live in place like Rio sometimes.
Great pictures. You guys share the passion to get out on such a cold day, I would not dare.
Thank you, Lakshmi, for your kind comment!
….a walk together through such a lovely city would make any cold day warm… not sure about having that scary statue in my house…I guess you could always make some pumpkin soup to warm you up
We don’t make pumpkin soup here
Thank for your kind comment. Maybe I should look for a recipe for pumpkin soup?… We have a really nice big pumpkin at home…
Very nice photos. Sculpture and Pocahontas were just to my mind. Pocahontas has very nice necklace made from beads.
Happy weekend!
Glad you liked it!
Happy Sunday!
The bas relief is beautiful – if these are exposed to too much pollution, they lose their details over time.
The balconies on the tenement house in the first photo are quite lovely too.
Ah, of course they lose their details… And I can’t even hope that they would be ever refurbished! I loved those balconies! I could “see” how former inhabitants were going out on a balcony to breath some fresh air.
